I recognise that the world asks a lot from you everyday. Hubert and Mavis Art Studio exists so you have a place where you recharge, reconnect and nurture your wellbeing. I've designed these creative sessions to support you through relaxation, creative expression and artistic play.
Why do I do what I do?
Tattooed on my arm I have ‘Do what you love’. Most of the time I live by it, I don’t get it right everyday but I really do my best. Being self employed as I have for over 20 years is not the easy path to earning a crust but I am determined to never stop.
I don’t call myself a ‘teacher’ as I am not trained as one and have huge respect to those that have spent years in education to have the credentials to wear the title.
I share. I share my knowledge and passion of visual arts. I share because I love people. I love your story and that you share a piece of yourself, through your art, with me.
We all know we need time out, to slow down, to take the pressure off, we rush too much, pack too many things in to a day and can’t remember how to care for ourselves as sometimes we are too busy caring for others. This also applies to children these days. They have so much to do and for some children art can be their ‘quiet, top up’ time too.
Hubert and Mavis is a space I have created where you can feel safe, nurtured and relaxed enough that you can take the pressure off, slow down and then create to top up your soul and nourish your wellbeing.
I think nowadays it’s widely known how incredible creativity and visual arts are for our emotional and physical health. The tangible, primal act of marking a surface in an intuitive way is such a golden moment. It is creation. Something that wasn’t suddenly is.
Not being able to see the outcome before you begin and have your mind, body and soul guide you on a creative journey to a place that is visually and emotionally satisfying is such a wonderful feeling.
I’ve also received my Art Therapy Diploma and the deeper I delve the more exciting and important I feel this work is. Art is therapy by nature. It’s one of the earliest ways humans began to communicate. We may all not feel we need ‘therapy’ as such but it’s a incredible way to unlock your incredible unconscious mind and reveal yourself to your self!
If you’d like to chat more about what the studio can offer you please feel free to email, message or give me a call anytime.
